   13 Jul 2018

Carpentry Works Ltd. are just 12 weeks into a year long contract with Sisk to deliver timber cladding services on 466 lodges as part of the Center Parcs project close to Ballymahon, County Longford in the ‘Hidden Heartlands’ of Ireland.

The project marks a significant milestone for the Midland’s based company, having being selected through competitive tender to work on such a high profile project. The high standards and expectation of quality and safety at Sisk is apparent throughout the Center Parcs site. Carpentry Works have embraced the challenge of delivering 15 lodges per week with a team of 24.

Sisk are committed to delivering quality carpentry services through partnership with the Sisk Joinery Training Centre – implemented alongside Carpentry Works with 6 of the 24 strong cladding team part of the trainee apprenticeship model for sustainable delivery of quality trained craftsmen for the Irish construction sector.

Mark Feely, Managing Director, of Carpentry Works Ltd. has embraced the challenge of working on the Center Parcs with innovative ideas to fulfil the company’s lean management principles. Recent finalist in the Local Enterprise Awards, the young Carpentry Works team offer professional rapid build construction services and delivering the quality expected by the Sisk management team.

As part of Marks commitment to not only deliver on his services to enhance his teams experience. Mark facilitated an interagency networking event on the Center Parcs site in partnership with Sisk to share knowledge. The management team at Sisk, the local education training boards, enterprise boards and the Construction Industry Federation were invited to come together to help in the long term development of the construction sector. The brisk 2 hour presentation and site tour facilitated the cross pollination of best practice lean construction disciplines.

The current opportunity in the construction industry sector requires upskilling existing staff, encouraging new and current apprentices, promoting to those who have gone overseas that there are a growing number of quality long term construction jobs in Ireland.
